£332,000 Grant Secured for Primary School Phonics Programme
Weatherhead Teaching School in a partnership with Wirral Local Authority secures £332,000 grant from the Department for Education as part of the Strategic School Improvement Fund (SSIF).
The successful bid will fund a programme to support 21 primary schools on the Wirral to develop and improve the teaching of phonics.
Mr N Dyment, Director of the Teaching School reported that he was particularly pleased at securing the resources, as only a very small number of applications across the North West and the across the country were accepted. The DfE have recognised the quality of the Teaching School and its ability to deliver successful projects that lead to improved student outcomes.
The project will start this Autumn term and many young people across the Wirral, will benefit from this new initiative.
